How to Monetize your blog with ads

Monetizing your blog can be a very hard and time consumming task. You need to see your blog from as visitors perspective and ask yourself: What are my visitors interested in?
Once you answer that question, a lot of ideas will start emerging. First, you will realize that your visitors will most likely browse through your blog for to find a specific topic or information. Once they find it, they will only then analyze the environment they’re in (your blog). Design and theme comes in play here. If your visitor finds himself in an attractive and organized blog, he might browse a little bit more through your blog and read more in detail what your advertisers have to offer (if its somehow related to your blog) and hopefully make a commission off by either referring a sale through an ad, or getting paid for clicks (google adsense).
There are tons of ad networks you can join to monetize your blog’s traffic. Most offer the same (cpm and ppc ads) cpm= cost per one thousand impressions and cpc= cost per click. Now depending on your blog’s traffic you will have determine which option is best for you. For example, your blog gets 100 visits per day, you won’t get the best offer if you insert cpm ads, but you also have to know that with 100 visitors, the probability that they click a cpc ad is very remote, and will mostly depend on where you place the ads and also consider that the world average click-through rate for ads is 0.10% . You might want to analyze your traffic behavior by testing different ad networks, options, sizes, formats, etc. before you fully monetize your blog with ads.
The only certain way of knowing what works for you is by testing, testing and testing. Test an ad network performance on your blog only after you have 300 visits or more per day or else you will be wasting time trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Leave an ad for about 2 weeks before pulling it out to test its performance, 2 weeks is a decent period of time to see results in an active blog.
And last but not least, always and I mean ALWAYS look for better offers, advertisers, ad networks to maximize your earnings potential, remember that while you keep adding content to your blog, it will get more and more traffic; and that means more money for you and more means to monetize.
